TROOP 153 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 7, 2006 Attendees: Martin Lunde, Jon Souer, Tom Nelson, Steve Goemer, Mike Petersen, Donald, Burr, Roy Nelson and Joe Loyas.Jon Souer called the meeting to order @ 7:00 PM. An agenda was distributed and is attached for the record. Minutes of Committee Meeting will be posted online for all to read. The minutes from the Committee Meeting of April 9, 2005 were approved as read with several minor corrections. The corrections were made to the record set in bold red type. A sign in sheet is also attached for the record. Scoutmaster’s Report by Jon Souer Attendance at the PLC meetings remains "hit and miss" – this has to improve if the PLC is to be really effective. Jon will keep pushing on this issues to get the Scouts together from 7 to 7:30 before each Troop meeting. Jon is going to ask the Scouts for volunteers to be Den Chiefs for the Webelos. There will be a church "clean up" by the Troop on May 20th. Roy Nelson will check with the church as to what the Scouts can do – perhaps stain the fence around the Troop trailer. The next few Scout meetings will focus upon Summer Camp prep and merit badges. Jon and Tom both indicated that camping trip attendance was low and wondering how to correct this. At the present time, High School band is interfering with attendance. The Troop needs a dedicated "go to adult" to help with the Cub to Scout transition. Treasurer’s Report by Tom Nelson Tom did not have the Treasurers Report ready for distribution. He will complete it and distribute it in the near future, and will update all camp moneys from the past weekend.
Quartermaster’s Report by Steve Goemer Steve has not purchased the new propane powered stove yet. This is not an issue as it is not a pressing issue at this time. The signage for the Troop trailer has not yet been started. Don does not want to work on the signage, but he will get pricing for such. One possible signage company is Advantage Sign (Tom Foley is the contact). The list of Eagles will be on the rear, sponsors on the front vee and BSA decal on the sides. Advancement Report by Mike Petersen Joe Mans has his Eagle Badge; David Lunde will schedule his Court of Honor before the next Committee meeting. Chris Goemer is close – should be done by this Fall. There will be a Board of Review on Monday May 8th. Youth Protection by Joe Loyas Twenty (20) Scouts need their Class 1 medical form updated (not 17 as reported last month) and the paperwork for such has been distributed to the Scouts. Joe will pass out the SSD and SA cards shortly. Summer camp swim tests must be scheduled prior to leaving for camp.
Recycling Report by Scott Roadfeldt (not present) Strength Report May 19 thru 21, 2006 District Camporee with the theme of "Outdoor Cooking" will be held at Silver Wood in St. Anthony. This could become a joint event with Pack 153. Nine (9) Scouts have signed up so far – cost is $17 per Scout. The District will cover the cost of new Scouts – 10 Scouts and 4 adults plus 1 Cub and his father have signed up so far. Pack 153 is not doing Webelos Experience this year. Perhaps the Troop should do this event for the Pack – even expand it to other Packs (but limit it to only two age groups). Webelos Summer Camp will be July 12 – 15, 2006 at Tomahawk in Wisconsin. The Cub Scouts are not doing popcorn at Village Fest this year; perhaps the Troop and Pack could work together on this. At the same time do camping in Central Park as it was a big hit last year. Upcoming Events
With no further business, the meeting was closed at 8:49 PM. The next Committee meeting will be held at 7:00 PM on Sunday June 4th at Faith Methodist Church, St. Anthony, MN. Minutes submitted by Martin Lunde @ martin.lunde@dectra.net. |
