Camping Rules Physical Forms - Scouts are required to have a Class 1 BSA health form on file with the troop. Scouts and Scouters are required to have a physical with the results recorded on a scout Class 2 BSA form and signed by their physician on file with the troop before (2 weeks preferred) participating in any camping or high adventure activities. The signed Class 2 physical form is valid for:
Fees - Scouts and adults are responsible for paying for the cost associated with camping and other troop activities. At the discretion of the troop committee some cost of long-term camps may be offset for adult volunteers to show appreciation for taking the time off work to lead the campout.Packing for Camp - A gear list is found in the Boy Scout Handbook. Specific gear lists for special outings or activities like winter camping or backpacking will be provided with the information about that event. Group equipment will be provided by the troop. The troop has a policy on the use of troop tents.Troop Equipment - Scouts are expected to treat troop property with the care necessary for it to be used for many years to come. Any scout that abuses troop equipment will be asked to cover the cost of associated damage. Normal deterioration and wear is a part of using equipment and is anticipated with the troop committee purchasing new equipment on a rotating basis. Donations are always welcome.Electronics - Scouts are prohibited from using radios, CD players, digital music devices, video games, TV's while in camp. The troop allows use of electronic systems during transit to and from scouting events. Scouts are encouraged to leave their devices locked in the automobile of the event leader.Alcohol - BSA policy prohibits the use of alcoholic beverages and controlled substances at any campout or activity involving youth members at any BSA owned or operated properties. Troop 3153 prohibits the use of alcoholic beverages and controlled substances at any campout or activity involving youth members.Smoking - Leaders are encouraged not to use any tobacco products at any scout activity. If an adult leader or volunteer wishes to smoke, they must do so out of the sight of all the scouts. All cigarette butts must be disposed of properly (i.e. Leave No Trace). |
