The date for Troop 153’s next expedition to Philmont Scout Ranch is July 16th, 2008 and returning to Minneapolis on the 28th.
The troop has put down deposits enough for two crews. We have open slots on both crews so we can add people up to the crew limit (7 minimum / 12 maximum per crew). We will be starting to open up the sign-up to other groups and individual scouts that want to go as well so please sign up now if you are thinking of going! ( www.scouting.org/philmont )The cost of the expedition will be in the range of $1100.00 to $1200.00. Philmont 2008 fees are $560.00 per participant and the remaining fees are estimates of travel, crew gear and maps, etc. Philmont requires the $50.00 deposit listed above plus the remaining $510.00 of their fees be received ahead of time in equal parts of $255.00 payments:

(Please be advised that the deposit / fee money sent to Philmont is NON-REFUNDABLE unless someone else is able to replace you.)This is the ultimate in Boy Scout camping and hiking! We will start training early in the spring of 2008 so we are prepared and working well in our respective crews. Please sign below and get this back to Mike Petersen AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! The sign-up is on a first come, first served so get your reservations in NOW! The requirements are:
(1). You must be 14 by January 1, 2008 OR have completed 8th grade and be at least 13 by summer 2008.
(2). Must be First Class.
(3). Must meet the Philmont height and weight guidelines.
(4). And finally, YOU MUST GET Troop 3153 COMMUITTEE APPROVAL* to go.

*Troop 3153 committee approval will be based upon demonstrated scout skills comparable to the challenge of the trek and the recommendation of the Troop 3153 leaders undertaking the trek.
